Tethered Oral Tissues (Tongue & Lip Ties)
Many families come to Melissa with concerns about possible tongue or lip ties. While this is not a separate service, a functional assessment of tethered oral tissues (TOTS) is included in your initial evaluation when there are signs of impact on feeding, speech, breathing, sleep, or other daily activities.
Melissa evaluates not just the appearance of the tissue, but how it affects function—including muscle compensation, oral mobility, and quality of life. If a release is recommended, she collaborates directly with your provider to guide timing, readiness, and outcomes.
Pre- and post-operative therapy is provided as part of your care plan when needed. Myofascial release is often incorporated to loosen muscle and fascial tension, improve mobility, and optimize oral function before and after a release for better long-term results.
