Pediatric Feeding Therapy
A child who won’t chew or gags on food isn’t just being picky—sometimes the muscles don’t have the endurance, and the brain can’t process the sensation. We look at the structure, how it functions, and how the sensory system reacts. That’s how we create therapy that actually works.
The Initial evaluation includes a comprehensive sensory, oral motor, and feeding exam to assess the subsystems involved in chewing, swallowing, and coordinating safe, effective feeds. Melissa ensures that your child has the prerequisite skills needed for nutritive eating and helps address challenges such as gagging, food refusal, texture aversions, or difficulty progressing to age-appropriate foods.
Parents and caregivers are active participants in every 1-hour feeding therapy session, working alongside Melissa to support progress in real time. Parent training is woven throughout each visit to build confidence, reinforce techniques, and ensure carryover at home.
You’ll receive a personalized weekly home program tailored to your child’s current needs, goals, and functional level—so that progress continues between sessions and feels manageable for your family.
